FREE INTERCULTURAL TRAINING

The Nelson & District Arts Council (NDAC) is inviting all arts councils and organizations in the region to take part in free upcoming training days, led by Intercultural Kootenays in partnership with NDAC.
The sessions are designed to support the development of foundational cultural safety policies—such as codes of conduct, anti-harassment policies with cultural safety components, and equity frameworks—that will help ensure global majority artists can engage safely and meaningfully.
The training will include a half day focused on anti-racism and a half day on decolonial practices, paired with hands-on policy development support so that participants leave with practical tools and resources ready to implement.
This is an opportunity for us, as a sector, to strengthen our commitment to equity, safety and inclusion, and to align our practices with the needs of the communities we serve.
The sessions will be held on the following dates, with locations to be determined:
- Valemount: October 11/12, 2025
- Invermere: October 13/14, 2025
- Fernie: October 15/16, 2025
- Creston: October 17/18, 2025
- New Denver: October 25/26, 2025
- Salmo: November 1/2, 2025
