Course Description: “Perfectionism means that you try desperately not to leave so much mess to clean up. But clutter and mess show us that life is being lived.”
—Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life
In this masterclass, Corinna Chong will share strategies for finding the joy in revision—a process that can be onerous and demoralizing for many writers. We’ll look at ways to curb “writer’s block” (a.k.a. perfectionism), constructive approaches to messy drafts, and creative prompts to feed an energizing revision process. Be sure to bring your pen, notebook, and messiest ideas! (Optional: Feel free to bring a fews pages of an existing draft (e.g., a story, novel excerpt, or poem) to work with.)
