Objects in the Landscape
December 29, 2022–January 22, 2023
This show of paintings, collage and photos is a play on object-oriented programming. It (0) models the real world by defining objects, then (1) makes the objects interact to create a response. You, the viewer, are invited to run the “program”. Approach the canvas as browser window, decide if the interaction of human and natural objects in the landscape models the “real” world.
The artist, Beth Gallup, is fascinated by the way we train ourselves to ignore functional, utilitarian objects in the world around us. Look past them to magnify whatever natural beauty we can find beyond, above or around.
Objects in the Landscape opens December 29, 2022 at The Art Station in Fernie, BC. It runs through January 23, 2023.
