Lucas Myers: ROOF
March 9, 2023 @ 7:30 pmâ10:00 pm PST
Trail & District Arts Council and the Trail Community Action Team bring you Lucas Myers in “Roof”. In ROOF, a humorous yet socially conscious one-person show, Lucas Myers weaves together elements of stand-up comedy, physical theatre, and his trademark brand of observational humor to tell the story of Dave and Stevie. Dave is a highly successful real estate agent who is living the dream: hot car, great kids, beautiful wife, gorgeous sound system, designer kitchen. Just as he is about to launch his own self-improvement video series, #HiMyNameIsDave, he discovers major issues with his roof and cracks begin to form in his perfect world. Enter Stevie, a journeyman roofer with aspirations of being a stand-up comic, who is the only person capable of dealing with Daveâs narcissistic hyper vigilance. As they attempt to collaborate on the roof project, Stevie forces Dave to confront his shortcomings and come to terms with what being a good person really means. As their initial views of each other are challenged, ROOF examines our preconceptions around mental health, addiction, and homelessness as the characters are forced to confront their own assumptions. Created and performed by Lucas Myers, the creator of A Beginners Guide to Nelsonia, CAMPGROUND and DECK. Please note: This performance is not suitable for children. There will be a short pre-show chat, free naloxone kits will be distributed, and a counselor will be on location to help anyone who needs to talk. Our co-presenter for the show, Trail Community Action Team (TCAT), works to reduce harm and improve services for people with lived and living experience of drug use in the Lower Columbia. They provide support and advocate to all levels of government to reform drug policy to end the loss of lives caused by the current toxic drug supply.
