74. LaVerna Wiebe Peters
Painting; fibre art; demonstrations

I am so lucky to have a home-based studio right next to the lush Kootenay forest. I am hoping my flower gardens will be in full bloom next to the tents I will have set up in my backyard for the Columbia Basin Culture Tour.
I am an acrylic/oil painter, and I am well known for my blue/black bear paintings. I also enjoy plein-air landscape painting in oils during the summer. Perhaps you will catch me next to the tent, painting, during your visit.
You will have the first opportunity to view my latest work of vintage paintings depicting images that you might remember from the ’60s and ’70s. I will have both acrylic and oil original paintings available for you to purchase.
Joining me at my home studio is fibre artist Michelle Quinn and acrylic painter/sculptor Yvonne Vigne. Each artist will be demonstrating their craft during the Culture Tour.
I am currently represented by Art Gallery Kimberley.
A tour of my art studio will also be available. I look forward to meeting you and sharing my passion for creating art.

75. Michelle Quinn @ LaVerna’s Garden
Textile art; needle felting; mixed media; demonstrations

Step into a world of imagination at the Columbia Basin Culture Tour. I’m a lifelong maker from Cranbrook, and for the past eight years I’ve been bringing stories to life through textile art. Inspired by the books and fairytales that filled my 29 years of teaching, I create whimsical wool sculptures and pictures.
I’m delighted to be joining acrylic and oil artist LaVerna Peters in her beautiful, sunlit garden, alongside acrylic and clay artist Yvonne Vigne. Throughout the tour, we’ll each be demonstrating our creative processes. You’re invited to explore my finished needle-felted pieces, as well as new mixed-media textile works inspired by my family history.
Whether you’re a curious art lover or simply seeking inspiration, we look forward to welcoming you to LaVerna’s open-air art garden.

76. Yvonne Vigne Fine Art @ LaVerna’s Garden
Painting; hand-sculpted clay art

Hi! I’m so excited to be joining two fellow artists this summer in participating in the Columbia Basin Culture Tour! I will be set up with my artwork, easel and paints in LaVerna’s lovely outdoor garden. I have enjoyed my love of painting from a very early age. My father was a painter and I was mentored and encouraged to develop my skills under his tutelage. After graduating high school, I applied and was accepted to the three-year art program at the Kootenay School of the Arts in Nelson, where I majored in painting. Along with my painting, I’ve more recently developed a love for sculpting clay pieces in the pottery studio at Cranbrook Arts. I hope to share some of these new art pieces with you this summer.
Please join LaVerna, Michelle and me this summer as we share our passion for art with the community. We are so excited and hope to see you all!
