23. Selkirk Weavers & Spinners Guild Studio
Fibre arts; weaving; spinning; demonstrations

The Selkirk Weavers and Spinners is a local guild of artists that has been running since 1972 and has members from all over the area. Our goals are to foster the art and craft of weaving and spinning in the West Kootenay. We work to help and motivate each other in our craft and to encourage beginners as they learn through workshops, monthly meetings, and our summer gift shop and demonstrations. We strive to keep improving our work in order to achieve the highest possible standards. We collect and preserve literature, equipment and other info related to the craft in order to preserve the arts and help them thrive, and we promote awareness and appreciation of the art of weaving and spinning to the public.

I’m delighted to invite you to my metal art studio during the Columbia Basin Culture Tour! My lifelong passion for metalwork sparked the very first time I tried blacksmithing. My artwork is inspired from nature: the beautiful curves in plants and the unique details in animals. You may have seen some of my sculptures in the Castlegar Sculpturewalk. Come see where the hard work and inspiration meet to forge these works of art. During the tour, I’ll display a range of works from my collection. Most will be available for purchase, in case you fall in love with one right on the spot!
