Welcome to my charming courtyard studio in Warfield, where a world of handcrafted lampshades awaits. My fascination with fabric lampshades began the moment I laid eyes on my first Victorian shade: its intricate detail and warm glow sparked a lifelong passion. Over 30 years ago I took my first step into this craft with a simple glue-gun course. But that was just the beginning. I was determined to master the traditional hand-sewn method. I delved into research, sourced exquisite vintage fabrics, and experimented with fabric dying to achieve the perfect hues. Lately I’ve been exploring a variety of styles, from mid-century modern to Japanese and whimsical designs. This year, I will be showcasing a work in progress, giving you a look at the intricate process of creating a hand-sewn shade. This year, we are so fortunate to be joined by Jacki Bruce of JB designs, whose stunning creations will add even more beauty to the courtyard. We can’t wait to welcome you to an enlightened experience, where craftsmanship, creativity and ambiance come together in perfect harmony.

Woodland Hillside is a husband-and-wife team who work with local, standing dead, fallen and danger trees to create their handcrafted wood products. They design and make products from keychains to furniture. They utilize this rescued wood to create beautiful and functional pieces that are unique to the natural colours and designs of the wood they come from. Melissa and Ghislain purchased an old building in downtown Trail, completing phase one of renovations in December 2024. Woodland Hillside’s storefront is now located in this space at 1148 Bay Ave. in downtown Trail. They create premade and custom home décor, including serving boards, furniture and signs. They specialize in business solutions and special-occasion products. They offer discounts for local businesses, teams and organizations.

I would like to invite you to visit my pottery studio, where I work to create a wide variety of pottery pieces, both wheel-thrown and hand-built. I have made pottery for almost 50 years and love to share and talk about what I do. At my venue, you can visit my studio to see wheel-throwing demonstrations and view the large variety of my pottery, which will also be for sale. I have participated in the tour many times and love meeting new people and greeting “old” friends and sharing what I do.
