86 THREE CRAZY GALS WITH PAINTBRUSHES

LANDSCAPE; ACRYLIC; OIL; ALCOHOL INK

Anne Aitken Anderson / Judy Winters / Alysha Clarke

Our venue is the home of Anne Aitken Anderson, whose entire home is her studio.

We will have creations inside and out. You will find art in many mediums at this venue, mixed media, acrylics, oil and alcohol ink and a wide range of subject matter ranging from animals and landscapes to playful abstract! It will be fun.

If it is a nice day, the gals might be found outside working on various creations.

Anne’s passion is painting “en plein air” using oil paint. Anne seeks to share her awe of being present and truly witnessing the fragile environment mother nature provides us in her oil sketches.

Judy has a free-flowing style and loves the ease and flow of acrylics. The brushstrokes in Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings, especially “Starry Night,” and his passion to paint no matter what his journey through life, inspires her to paint daily.

Alysha’s painting style changed dramatically in the past few years with her discovery of alcohol ink. She loves the vibrant colours of the inks and the challenge of trying to control them.

89 BAVIN STUDIOS

GLASSBLOWING; PAINTING; CERAMICS; FLAME WORKING

Bavin Studios, previously known as Bavin Glassworks, was established by Pat Bavin in 1988. It is now the longest-running glass studio in the interior of BC.

Pat’s son Ryan started learning about glassblowing from his father when the studio was operating in the original old garage in Windermere. In 2001, looking for a larger space to work out of, the Bavins moved to the current location closer to Invermere, where Ryan continues to operate the studio after his father’s retirement from glass.

Both Pat and Ryan attended the renowned Pilchuck Glass School: Pat in the 1980s and Ryan in the 1990s and early 2000s. Their work in glass has been shown and collected nationally and internationally over the last three decades, the natural environment of the Kootenays being their main source of inspiration.

The small gallery in the studio shows the latest work in glass from Ryan Bavin, acrylic painting and collage by Pat Bavin, porcelain ceramics by studio manager Shawna Tegart, and flame-worked glass by Tina Nowatschin and Sheenah Lindsay.

We look forward to your visit with the Columbia Basin Culture Tour of the arts!

4884 Athalmer Rd., Invermere
