63. Jessica Hagen

Painting; landscape; oil

I work primarily in oil to explore the softness and brilliance of light as it moves across land, water and sky. I am continually drawn to the quiet beauty found in simple landscapes and overlooked places.

My hope is that these paintings invite viewers to pause and notice the splendour that exists in the ordinary. Through colour and light, I aim to evoke the same sense of awe, peace, hope and gratitude that I experience while painting.

Light is at the heart of my work, reflecting the quiet hope and beauty that I believe is woven into creation. I am part of the Wild Goose Collective, which is a community of creatives living and working out of the Harbour at Riondel.

64. Diane Trudel

Paintings; acrylic; mixed media

To capture those profound moments that connect us with pure spirit is my challenge—to depict through my medium the tenderness and tenacity of humans, the flora and fauna of the natural world, and the shapes and shades of always-shifting landscapes. Layerings of acrylic washes and infusions of mixed media are my preferred techniques. The haunting beauty of the Kootenays is the well of my inspiration, and my travels to exotic environments throughout the world have enhanced the colours of my visual palette.
