Blacksmithing; welding; metalwork; metal art

I’m delighted to invite you to my new metal-art studio during the Columbia Basin Culture Tour! We just completed my new workshop last fall, and I am so excited to share it with you! My lifelong passion for metalwork fired up the very first time I tried blacksmithing. My artwork is inspired from nature: the beautiful curves in plants and the unique details in animals. During the tour, I’ll display a range of works from my collection. Most will be available for purchase, in case you fall in love with one on the spot! I’ll also demonstrate my process by working on a custom project live before you, while explaining my methods and the tools I use at various stages of development.

31. Selkirk Weavers & Spinners Guild

Weaving; spinning; knitting; demonstrations

Make sure your Culture Tour weekend includes a stop at the Selkirk Weavers & Spinners studio and giftshop located at the Doukhobor Discovery Centre in Castlegar next to the Apple Guy! We are a local guild of fibre artists that has been around since 1972. We have members from all over the area.

Spend some time exploring all that goes into the ancient art form of weaving. Take in live demonstrations on the loom by our weavers, and see how our spinning and weaving ties in with the rich textile history of the Doukhobors. Catch our spinners in action creating yarn for their handmade items and explore different fibres such as linen, bamboo, cotton and wool.

Think about becoming a member for access to learning materials, equipment rentals, gift shop space and more! Meetings are the third Sunday of the month at 10 a.m.

Explore our studio and giftshop for great handmade items. Beyond the Culture Tour weekend, these are open Saturdays in June and Wednesday to Saturday from June to September. Watch for our fall exhibit and sale in November for all your pre-holiday shopping needs. Find us on Facebook and Instagram.
