Silversmith; sterling silver jewellery; talismans; spoon carver

I am a silversmith and spoon carver born and raised on the coast of BC. Currently residing in the Slocan Valley, I use recycled sterling silver to create one-of-a-kind hand-forged pieces of jewellery, for everyone.
I use downfall and ethically harvested wood to hand carve eating and cooking spoons, and then chip-carve and milk-paint to push each form to its edge.
It’s working with the contrast of wood and metal that ignites creativity and makes each piece a personal treasure.

25. Robin DuPont Ceramics
Functional; decorative; atmospheric; ceramics

Robin DuPont is a full-time studio potter and ceramic educator specializing in atmospheric firing, a process that reveals subtle and unpredictable tones, surfaces and effects on his ceramic work. Having travelled extensively to teach, build and fire kilns across North America and abroad, he also maintains his home and studio practice outside of Nelson, where he utilizes wood to fire his kilns to extremely hot temperatures. Robin is the recipient of the 2024 BC Achievement award for Applied Art + Design and exhibits his work internationally.
During the Culture Tour, visitors are invited to tour the various kilns and learn how the repurposing of by-products from the local forest industry plays an important part in achieving the unique surfaces on Robin’s work during his atmospheric firings. Choose from a variety of handmade, functional wares, including bowls, mugs, teapots, dinnerware, pitchers, vases, pie plates and butter dishes. Each piece is unique and can perform in many contexts: in the kitchen, at the table, on the wall and in the gallery setting.
A renovated vintage 1959 Airstream trailer serves as a showroom for Robin’s finished work, and offers a distinctive setting to exhibit the finished one-of-a-kind pieces.
