SUMMARY:Intermediate Handbuilding: Bathroom Countertopware with Natural Impressions (Sept 15-Oct 27)
DESCRIPTION:Incorporate natural elements such as flowers and grasses to create a set of bathroom countertopware. Participants must have previously taken a hand building class or be a Trail Pottery Studio member. \nParticipants Will Create: \n1 Toothbrush Jar\, 1 small water cup\, Soap Dish with Feet\, Bathroom Jar with Lid\, Soap Pump Bottle\, Watch and Ring Tray\n\nAbout Lana Jamieson of Black Earth Ceramics:\nLana is the potter behind Black Earth Ceramics. She has a BFA from Concordia University where she majored in Studio Arts with a Concentration in Ceramic Sculpture. While in Montreal\, Lana fell in love with pottery\, while studying privately with Iranian master potter Mahmoud Baghaeian. She has a studio in her home in Rossland where she creates pottery which she sells in several shops. Lana has taught several ceramics workshops in schools\, at peoples homes\, and at the Rossland Museum. SUMMARY:SINGLE MOTHERS\, SPITE HOUSE\, BITTER//WASHED
DESCRIPTION:Single Mothers has made a compelling case for bullshit. Not bullshit as in the self-serving act of using untruths for personal gain but rather how red flags\, stacked odds and strike outs can somehow inspire a collective recklessness to keep at it. \nSPITE HOUSE is one of those bands born out of intuition. Vocalist Maxime Lajoie (guitar and vocals) cites the unexpected death of his mother as the spark to dig into his desire to sing for a band and ignite an old idea between former friend and schoolmate Marc Tremblay (drums). Shortly after\, the two had fallen into a cohesive writing rhythm of tracks bearing influences such as Samiam\, Jawbreaker and Seaweed with a modern flair. The band’s sonic trajectory was cemented with the inclusion of Nabil Ortega (bass)\, who also shared a mutual love for the band’s list of influences. \nBITTER//WASHED is a four piece Garage Punk band built on the broken dreams of misled youth. A barrage of reckless riffs and relentless rhythm balanced on the edge of a knife. Rock n Roll at it’s primitive best!

DESCRIPTION:About Hand Building:\nThere are three main techniques: pinch\, coil and slab\, all for a variety of projects and designs. This method of making is the most beginner-friendly\, as it doesn’t require the use of a pottery wheel. It’s also incredibly satisfying to add texture and unique effects on hand built pieces\, making use of stamps and sprigs.\n\nPast projects include:\nStamps\, mugs\, bowls\, plates and ornaments.\n\nAbout Theresa LeRose of Makes Me Smile:\nI love the endless possibilities of using clay to create functional art. DESCRIPTION:Mama’s Broke is a powerful duo that deliver a compelling performance with heart and raw energy.  Although highly influenced by their Canadian roots\, Lisa and Amy are based out of nowhere and everywhere. \nTheir two strong voices blend to create haunting harmonies\, while they artfully juggle fiddle\, banjo\, guitar and mandolin\, and incorporate traditional dance and foot percussion into their performance.  Their original -and often dark- compositions push the boundaries of tradition and the constraints of genre.  Drawing from old-time\, Quebecois\, blues\, punk\, celtic\, balkan and doom metal\, they create a soundscape that is both familiar and new.

We have an open practice after the lesson until 9:30pm.\n\n\n\nDancers of all levels are welcome! Material is beginner-friendly.\n\n\nTango is an improvised partner dance originating in Argentina and Uruguay; you don’t need a partner to attend tango practices or events and it can be danced by anyone and everyone.\n\n\n\n\nPlease bring your dancing shoes and a water bottle.\n\n\n5$ donation\n\n\n\nWhere to find us: Christies Lees Hall is on Radio Ave.\, in lower Fairview. Thomas King’s words\, “The truth about stories\, is that’s all we are\,” underscored the festival’s emphasis on the profound impact of storytelling\, particularly on youth. \nThe festival’s design draws inspiration from the Medicine Wheel\, a symbol of cultural significance\, representing life’s various facets for Indigenous communities. STOODIS aims to promote the normalization and celebration of Indigenous presence and perspectives. In the predominantly rural\, settler community in which we live\, the festival seeks to cultivate knowledge\, support\, and humanization of Indigenous people\, fostering a shared understanding of past\, present\, and future. \nIn  2024\, STOODIS will offer a celebration of diverse and compelling storytelling through film\, live performances\, and community engagement and conversations. The festival aims to showcase the work of emerging and established Indigenous artists while fostering a sense of community and cultural exchange. This year\, STOODIS will spotlight global Indigenous resistance\, excellence\, and resurgence.

DESCRIPTION:Incorporate natural elements such as flowers and grasses to create a set of bathroom countertopware. Participants must have previously taken a hand building class or be a Trail Pottery Studio member. \nParticipants Will Create: \n1 Toothbrush Jar\, 1 small water cup\, Soap Dish with Feet\, Bathroom Jar with Lid\, Soap Pump Bottle\, Watch and Ring Tray\n\nAbout Lana Jamieson of Black Earth Ceramics:\nLana is the potter behind Black Earth Ceramics. She has a BFA from Concordia University where she majored in Studio Arts with a Concentration in Ceramic Sculpture. While in Montreal\, Lana fell in love with pottery\, while studying privately with Iranian master potter Mahmoud Baghaeian. She has a studio in her home in Rossland where she creates pottery which she sells in several shops. Lana has taught several ceramics workshops in schools\, at peoples homes\, and at the Rossland Museum.
