SUMMARY:Stephen Fearing & The Sentimentals
DESCRIPTION:Stephen Fearing & The Sentimentals Revered Canadian songwriter Stephen Fearing and the award-winning Scandinavian indie-folk band The Sentimentals share a mutual passion for crafting evocative melodies and refined musical interplay that leave audiences cheering. Combining their shared admiration for classic Tin Pan Alley songwriting and storytelling with richly textured soundscapes\, they have forged a singular musical voice that is authentic and refreshingly inventive. Since joining forces in 2018\, Stephen Fearing & The Sentimentals have lit up stages across Europe and Canada\, delivering performances defined by an unforgettable blend of masterful songwriting and intricate musicianship. This collaboration is beautifully captured on Fearing’s 2022 album Vejpoesi (road poems)\, where The Sentimentals’ instrumentation deepens the emotional resonance of Fearing’s lyrics and melodies. Recorded in just three days at Maskinhallen\, a theater in Frederikshavn\, Denmark\, these sessions reveal The Sentimentals’ extraordinary ability to reimagine and elevate Fearing’s seasoned material. Together\, Stephen Fearing & The Sentimentals have created a rich musical expression focussed on artistic exploration. Their partnership seamlessly weaves traditional roots influences with subtle experimentation\, resulting in performances and recordings that are both emotionally stirring and artistically groundbreaking. \nAdvance Tickets $40\nAt the Door $45

SUMMARY:TESS ANDERSON & DREW STOREY
DESCRIPTION:Energetic modern rock\, pop\, and alternative! \n  \nTess‘ Bio: \n“Throw away all the expectations and just make music that feels good.” \n  \nThat’s the sentiment Vancouver-based Tess Anderson has chosen to live by recently\, and it’s become evident in her recent body of work. Allowing vulnerability and authenticity to be at the forefront of everything she does\, Tess captivates audiences with her moxie-filled performances. Trying on many different genres over the years\, nothing felt quite right – until now. Combining the heavy grit of alternative rock with the familiar gloss of pop\, she finally stepped into her power fronting an impressively versatile 6-piece band. Tess’s highly anticipated debut full-length album\, “Before I Come Unhinged”\, released on May 17\, 2024\, has already made waves\, surpassing 100\,000 streams within just four months. Receiving international press coverage\, including mentions in Billboard Music Canada and Exclaim!\, as well as having regular rotation nationally on CBC Music\, she is well positioned to continue attracting listeners across the country. Performing over 75 live shows annually\, including having opened for Mother Mother at a sold-out Commodore Ballroom show\, Tess continues to make a name for herself in the Vancouver music scene. \n Drew’s Bio: \nDrew Storey is a singer-songwriter and band leader from Langley\, BC\, with a unique blend of introspective lyricism\, pop hooks\, and rock energy. Writing and performing as a solo artist since 2015\, Drew’s music captures the essence of personal reflection while delivering infectious energy and enthusiasm to further connect with his audience. His performances have been referred to as Rex Orange County meets Bruce Springsteen\, blending thoughtful lyrics with creative\, high-energy showmanship and nostalgic sounds. Drew’s honesty and ear for melodies lead to him delivering one-of-a-kind memorable live acts and have made him an artist to watch in the indie scene. Since 2022\, Drew has been leading his own band\, further amplifying his sound and refining his live performances. To Drew\, connection is the main goal\, and he believes the only way that can happen is with complete musical and lyrical honesty.

SUMMARY:Dark Chapters opening reception
DESCRIPTION:The Dark Chapters project encompasses the renowned career of Métis artist and educator David Garneau\, through the dual lens of exhibition and publication. The book\, Dark Chapters: Reading the Still Lives of David Garneau\, invites 17 Canadian artists and academics to write a response – poetry\, creative writing\, critical essay – to one of Garneau’s vast collection of still life paintings. The exhibition features works from the publication as well as additional pieces chosen by Garneau. Dark Chapters offers myriad ways to investigate how the written word can implicate\, illuminate\, and interpret artworks. \nDark Chapters opens on Friday\, March 21 at 7pm featuring an artist talk with Garneau and essay contributor Fred Wah. This event is free and open to the public. \nDavid Garneau (Métis) is a Professor of Visual Arts at the University of Regina. He is a painter\, curator\, and writer who engages creative and critical expressions of Indigenous contemporary ways of knowing\, being\, and doing. In 2023\, he received the Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Art: Outstanding Achievement and was inducted into the Royal Society of Canada.

DESCRIPTION:SPRING FLING!!!\nWe are having a community dance fundraiser! March 22\, 8pm-12am.\nAs the spring brings anew\, let’s make this Equinox burst at the seams with a Fresh Start vibe! Come shake the cobwebs off\, swing a tail feather\, churn up the dirt on the dancefloor and Spring Fling the winter blues away\, together!\nOur friends\, Tamara and Scott have been fighting a long legal journey to remediate their land. For more than a year and a half they have been throwing everything they have\, and more\, at the mounting lawyer fees to undertake the challenge of our court system.\nAll proceeds from this event will go directly to assisting in legal fees towards the last push to see this journey to the finish line. We wanna raise the roof with joy\, friends\, music and dancing to give this family a lift through the home stretch. Please join us on the dance floor with live bands and smooth beats\, find a little something in the items for auction\, and help our pals feel the love and support from their community.\nWE’RE AT THE FINISH LINE!!! IT’S FRESH START TIME!!!\nWe are looking for a couple volunteers to help with set up & clean up. We are also seeking donations of items to auction.\n$20 advance tix only. Please contact feckthisshyte2025@gmail.com for tickets or more Information.

SUMMARY:Local Trail\, Distant Shores: Water Colour Perspectives
DESCRIPTION:A series of watercolour paintings by Dan Ashman. The exhibition takes inspiration from the scenery of the West Kootenays. \nExhibition Dates:\nMarch 27 – April 24\, 2025 \nOpening Event:\nMarch 27\, 2025 \nEvening Hours:\nApril 15\, 2025 \nGallery Hours:\nTuesday-Thursday\n12pm-4pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArtist Statement:\nIf I am asked how long it took to paint a picture\, I would reply\, “Thirty-five years to learn how\, and a few hours to put paint on paper”. It is a long process to master the media of watercolour and even after all this time\, something can still go wrong. I’m still learning and developing my style. \nAbout Dan Ashman:\nDan Ashman was born in British Columbia in 1956 and started his foray into art in High School by painting in oils. He moved to Trail to work as a Metallurgical Engineer at Teck and took up watercolours in 1987 during a night school course led by fellow engineer and local watercolour artist\, Brian O’Hara. Subsequently\, he attended workshops with Les Weisbrich\, a watercolour artist from the Slocan valley\, and Kiff Holland\, a watercolour artist from the lower mainland. Otherwise\, he is self taught. \nDan joined the Trail Art Club in 1988 and helped to establish the VISAC gallery. He was a member of the “Thursday Night Painters” when it was led by Bob Ross. His work has been shown in Art Club exhibitions\, the VISAC invitational show\, showings of the Thursday Night Painters both in Trail and Spokane as well as juried art shows. He has sold a number of paintings including one to St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. \nAs an avid outdoorsman\, Dan was inspired by the captivating scenery of the West Kootenays and began to capture local scenes in watercolour either painting “en plein air” or in his studio. He is also an amateur photographer and uses photos from his travels as subject matter. Now retired\, his recent works include landscapes from the West Kootenays\, the Canadian Rockies\, Hawaii\, and Atlantic Canada.

SUMMARY:“Uno” by Raul Pous Facha
DESCRIPTION:Meet Raul: Architect\, Artist\, and Digital Fabrication Visionary\n\n\n\n“I’m Raul\, an architect and artist of Mexican origin\, now based in Canada since 2022. My lifelong fascination with materials and manufacturing techniques has deeply influenced my approach to design. While I’ve always appreciated the artistry and individuality of handmade products\, I’ve also recognized the challenges they face in achieving precision and consistent quality.\n\n\n\nThis curiosity led me to digital fabrication\, where I discovered the power to translate complex designs into reality with precision and control. Through the fusion of technology and craftsmanship\, I am able to create pieces that retain the unique essence of handmade work while elevating their quality and accuracy.”\n\n\n\nExhibition Dates: March 10 – 20\, 2025\n\n\n\nOpening Reception: Thursday\, March 13 from 4:00pm-5:30pm\n\n\n\nGallery Hours: Monday-Friday\, 12pm-4pm\n\n\nTo learn more\, visit us at: https://visacgallery.com/exhibitions/#unoraulpousfacha
