SUMMARY:BOOM – The Music\, Culture\, and Events of the Baby Boom Generation
DESCRIPTION:Trail Arts Council presents “BOOM” A Kidoons and WYRD Production\, in association with The 20K Collective. Written\, Directed and Performed by Rick Miller. \n“BOOM (1945-1969): The Music\, Culture\, and Events of the Baby Boom Generation” will play at The Bailey Theatre on Wednesday\, March 5 at 7:30 pm\, as part of the Performing Arts Trail series in The Bailey Theatre. A daring mix of live music and visual effects this is a show full of emotion\, storytelling and sensory experience. \nPart 1 of the BOOM Trilogy features the music\, culture\, and events of the Baby Boom Generation from 1945 to 1969. An explosive solo performance\, “BOOM” takes us through 25 turbulent years\, and gives voice to over a 100 influential politicians\, activists and musicians. It’s a mind-blowing experience for audiences of all generations. \nBOOM chronologically documents the period from the first atomic bomb in 1945 all the way to the Apollo 11 landing on the moon in 1969. These two iconic moments span one of the most tumultuous times in modern history\, as a generation with incredible influence came of age alongside advances in technology and communication. \nRick Miller performs all the characters\, and 25 moment-defining songs\, in a stunningly staged production that blends cutting-edge multimedia\, and tour-de-force storytelling. Experience the global events as they unfold: the Cold War\, McCarthyism\, Beatlemania\, JFK\, MLK\, Vietnam… The various stories spiral into the “The Summer of Love’’\, and BOOM ends as it began: with the birth of a new generation. \n“A can’t-miss theatrical experience… (5 STARS) ★★★★★” – Calgary Sun \n“★★★★1/2! BOOM is a must-see for all generations!” – Theatromania \n“MIND-BOGGLING!… Nothing short of brilliant!”- Victoria Times Colonist \n“FLAWLESS!… A lively\, multi-media\, music and impersonation-filled charge through a quarter century” – The Ottawa Citizen \n“STUNNINGLY GOOD! SUMMARY:AFKO FAIT SON SHOW – LA PATENTE
DESCRIPTION:La Patente is a party that’s been going strong for almost 5 years\, without ever running out of steam. The group returns with “Le cirque des mal-aimés”\, a folk-rock album that feels like its both covered with sawdust and scented with the bottom of a whisky barrel. Rising from the dark recesses of New Brunswick to set the stage ablaze\, the quartet presents a raw and uncompromising cocktail of punk-rock and country-folk offset by a unique contemporary splash! \n\nSince their debut in 2020\, the band has taken the stage to perform some 200 shows in five countries on both sides of the Atlantic. This success is reflected in an accumulation of nominations and awards at ECMA\, GAMIQ\, MNB\, FrancoFête en Acadie\, and Harvest Music Festival\, as well as repeated appearances at major events and on notable broadcasts. Fuelled by a tireless festive good humour\, LA PATENTE leaves behind the lasting memory of a good night complete with sore dance-stepping muscles and satisfied mornings-after. \n\nLA PATENTE is : \nMarc Colecchio (lyrics\, vocals\, guitar) \nMathieu Emond (banjo\, vocals) \nMarc-André Godin (upright bass\, vocals) \nJean-Denis Migneault (drums\, vocals)
