SUMMARY:DirtWire w/ Chimp It & Hoola
DESCRIPTION:// DIRTWIRE //\nDirtwire stands poised between ancient Mother Earth and modern technology\, a blend of ethnomusicology and the psychedelic trance state\, gut-bucket delta blues and what the band variously dubs “back-porch space cowboy blues\, swamptronica\, and electro-twang.” It’s a sound informed by Dirtwire’s travels and performances around the globe\, where East meets West and North joins South. From the favelas in Brazil\, Femi Kuti’s Shrine in Lagos\, Tokyo’s bluegrass clubs\, Ayahuasca ceremonies in Central America\, Gamelan performances in Bali\, desert festivals in the Australian Outback\, and the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s modernized new capital Astana\, the band spreads its message by building bridges across musical cultures in their own unique way.\nDirtwire plays an array of instruments both ancient and modern\, including West African kamale ngonis\, jaw harps\, space fiddles\, whamola basses\, Rickenbacher electric 12 string guitars\, bowed Banjos and mouth harps from around the globe\, all interwoven into modern laptop beat creation. Hailing from the underground west coast electronic bass music scene Dirtwire finds itself at the forefront of experimental electronic music production mixing in their wide array of world instruments with sampled beats and 808’s. Dirtwire’s live shows are a communal psychedelic journey\, ranging from down home boot stomping get downs\, to bass and blues electronic mashups\, to ethereal cinematic beat driven soundscapes. Woven into each is the exploration of where live instruments meet computer production\, and where tradition meets experimentation.\nMedia Links:\nSOUNDCLOUD: https://soundcloud.com/dirtwire\nINSTAGRAM: http://www.instagram.com/dirwire\nFACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/dirtwiremusic\n///////////////////////////////////\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\nOpening Support:\n// CHIMP IT //\nHybrid Electronic DJ/Live Performance\nBlending the richness of cutting edge electronic music with the depth and emotion of blistering guitar licks and live vocals\nChimp It’s signature move is to keep their fans guessing\, as they weave their original material into edits and remixes from their favourite artists and peers\, moving through Garage\, Dubstep\, House\, DnB or whatever fresh gems they’ve uncovered in the far reaches of the music-verse.\nThey have been selected for prime time slots at events such as Shambhala\, Wicked Woods\, Friendzy Fest\, Tiny Lights and Arc’teryx Academy. SUMMARY:The Love still Flows - The Bellamy Brothers
DESCRIPTION:The Bellamy Brothers: THE LOVE STILL FLOWSThis is one of the BIG Ones…A huge Country act featuring a pair of true legends.Howard and David continue to prove that the trail they’ve ridden to fame has been as unique as their music itself. The road that started on the pop music charts in the ‘70’s\, took a winding turn into country music in the ‘80’s\, paving the way for duos to come\, such as Brooks & Dunn\, Montgomery Gentry\, Big & Rich\, and The Judds. Now known by their music and the company they were keeping\, The Bellamys officially lifted off the launch pad in 1976 when their single\, “Let Your Love Flow\,” became an instant smash in both the U.S. and Europe. It stayed on the international charts long enough to build a huge international fan base for the hip young brothers that endures to this day. The love was indeed flowing as The Bellamys jammed for audiences on their sold-out concerts and shared stages with the likes of Loggins & Messina\, the Doobie Brothers\, and the Beach Boys.\, with their patented blend of rock/country music.True to their musical roots\, their style and their songwriting was moving steadily more towards their raising. By the late ‘70’s The Bellamys were emerging on the country charts with another bona fide smash. “If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me)\,” originally scrawled on a dinner napkin by David\, rocketed them to the top of the country charts the way “Let Your Love Flow\,” had done in the pop market just a few years earlier. Success followed success: “Dancing Cowboys\,” “Sugar Daddy\,” “You Ain’t Just Whistlin’ Dixie\,” “Lovers Live Longer\,” “Do You Love As Good As You Look\,” “Redneck Girl\,” “For All The Wrong Reasons\,” “I Love Her Mind\,” “I Need More Of You\,” “Old Hippie\,” “Too Much Is Not Enough\,” “Kids Of The Baby Boom\,” and “Reggae Cowboy” and “Crazy From The Heart\,” all have lined the corridors of the Bellamy’s musical history and their walls with platinum and gold.Howard and David created a patent on the newly cool “duo” category in country music. In the era of the 2000’s\, The Bellamy Brothers hold the record in both the Academy of Country Music (ACM) and the Country Music Association Awards (CMA) for the most duo nominations. Numerous Grammy nods have also been directed toward the brothers.

SUMMARY:"Rewired" by Sab Curtis
DESCRIPTION:The Art of Transforming Trauma into Inspiration\n“Rewired” \nArt became an unexpected silver lining for West Kootenay-based artist Sab Curtis during her transformative journey through recovery from a traumatic brain injury. Beginning to put brush to canvas as a therapeutic outlet in 2020\, Sab hasn’t stopped painting since. Sab is excited to announce her upcoming solo art exhibit entitled “Rewired\,” featuring a collection of acrylic landscape paintings inspired by her deep connection to nature and newfound passion for art. The exhibit is open to inspire visitors at Art Gallery Kimberley in BC’s Best Small Town from May 2 – 12\, 2024. \nSab Curtis\, a self-taught artist and adventure enthusiast\, discovered the healing quality of art while recovering from her injury. Drawing on her lifelong hobby of photographing natural landscapes\, Sab’s artworks reflect her personal metamorphosis and the role nature played in her recovery process—a journey she describes as confusing and chaotic. Through “Rewired\,” Sab invites visitors to experience the varied moods and emotions that have shaped her transformation\, from calm reflections to complex expressions of resilience. \nAn engineer by profession\, Sab has translated her problem-solving skills to her creative practice through cognitive “rewiring.” She explains\, “My neural pathways have transformed from analysing data to construing the mixing of hues and tapestry of brushstrokes.” \nMother Nature is Sab’s greatest muse\, continually inspiring her work through adventures by foot\, bike\, or skis\, providing inspiration for her next body of work. Sab says\, “My adventures mould me\, and each canvas becomes my journal to translate what I discover through my wanders. My art practice began as a way to feel nurtured by nature’s magnificence when I was experiencing physical and cognitive limits due to injury\, and my evolving creative practice has helped me comprehend the unplanned pivot in my life.” \nTo celebrate the opening of the exhibit\, Sab invites everyone to a lively reception on Friday\, May 3\, from 7 – 9 pm. The event will feature live painting\, audience participation in a community painting\, live music by Ivan Palomares\, and light refreshments. Additionally\, on Sunday\, May 12\, at 3 pm\, Sab will host a special artist talk during the closing reception\, with a nice treat for all mothers and mother figures in attendance. \nSab’s unique perspective and artistic talent highlight the resilience and adaptability that lies within us all. We invite art enthusiasts and nature lovers alike to experience this powerful exhibition at Art Gallery Kimberley between May 2 – 12\, 2024. Sab’s exhibit welcomes visitors from Thursday through Sunday\, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm\, and from Monday to Wednesday by appointment. Don’t miss this opportunity to witness the beauty and strength in Sab’s “Rewired” collection.

His passion for storytelling through images is apparent in every piece featured in “Tides\,” creating an immersive experience for all who visit the exhibit.\nInspired by the beauty and complexity of the moments in between\, “Tides” showcases Neal’s distinctive photographic style\, reminiscent of the darkroom photography process executed through the use of modern photo editing software. Through a combination of intuition and skill\, Neal’s photographs reflect a sense of contemplation and introspection\, inviting viewers to find their own unique connection to the images. \nAccording to Neal\, photography as an art form has unique characteristics. He explains\, “In most traditional art forms\, like painting\, sculpture\, drawing\, and even etching\, you can visibly see the artist’s handiwork—the brushstrokes\, the lines\, the shaping of the material. However\, photography is different. Often\, it appears captured rather than crafted. Its construction is less clear. As an art form\, photography is also more accessible. Almost anyone can engage in photography\, regardless of their background or expertise.” \nUnlike social media snapshots\, the photographs showcased in galleries invite us to pause and ponder\, revealing deeper meaning within each frame. Neal aims to connect with viewers on a deeper level\, seeking friends who share an appreciation for the beauty and wonder of nature. \n“Tides” explores the moments in between——pauses\, transitions\, and liminal spaces where change is imminent. These photographs highlight the in-between spaces along the Pacific North Coast\, representing a shift from one state to another\, often feeling uncertain and detached from reality.\nThe opening reception for “Tides” will take place on Friday\, May 17th\, between 7 and 9 pm. Art enthusiasts and nature lovers alike are invited to experience Neal’s moving photography at Art Gallery Kimberley between May 16 – 26\, 2024. The exhibit welcomes visitors from Thursday through Sunday\, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm\, and accommodates appointments from Monday to Wednesday. Don’t miss this opportunity to take in the beauty and complexity of the moments in between. \nFor more information or to schedule a visit\, please contact Art Gallery Kimberley at 250-432-9225 or info@artgallerykimberley.com.
