DESCRIPTION:Nelson International Mural Festival is offering a FREE dance workshop with Creeasian at 11am on Saturday\, August 12th at Oxygen Art Centre in Nelson. ASL interpretation will be provided. \nAll levels welcomed. Toprock\, Drops\, Footwork\, and Freezes are some of the fundamentals Cree will walk you through. This workshop will help you better understand how to have a conversation/freestyle with other dancers in an open circle/cypher. \nCreeasian has been a dancer for 25yrs and has travelled all over the world to compete and perform. Through developing his style he found his connection to his indigenous heritage which helped amplify his love for movement. Breaking and Grassdancing complimented each other very well which then helped cree explore a much deeper connection to dance. The represented artist Grace CROUGHAN (Aug. 23 to Sept. 9) from Toronto will be showing her textural mountainscapes. \nStudio Connexion Art Gallery is a small cultural space nested in Nakusp. It has been in operation in the summer time mainly and going into its 15th season. 7 Art Exhibitions by talented Canadian Artists painting mainly landscapes and abstract. Artists from the region and across Canada are represented by the owner & curator Anne Béliveau \nThe 2023 season Starts on May 12th with Master Artist David Langevin who will be showing for the second time his gorgeous colourful scenes from Western Canada. David knows how to bring light in his paintings. He will also facilitate a workshop which is sold out already. SUMMARY:Kaslo Music In The Park – Diyet & The Love Soldiers
DESCRIPTION:Come down to see live music at The Front Street Park in Kaslo on Friday July 21st from 5-7 PM. Note that this event is on a Friday\, rather than the usual Saturdays\, and 5-7 rather then the usual 6-9. \nDiyet was born in a tent and spent her childhood on the ancestral lands of the Kluane First Nation people of the Yukon. Coming from a family rooted in traditions but tempered with a good sense of adventurous hippie attitudes\, Diyet has created a musical presence that is as diverse as her Southern Tutchone\, Tlingit\, Japanese and Scottish heritage. Her music is a mix of alternative country\, folk\, roots and traditional tunes with catchy melodies and stories deeply rooted in her Indigenous world view and northern life.
