SUMMARY:Mini Sculptural Vases with Becky
DESCRIPTION:Our instructor Becky is a student at Glasgow school of the arts in Scotland. She has years of experience moulding\, casting and working with clay. She is excited to share her knowledge with you! \nIn this fun introductory session into hand building clay\, guided by Becky\, you’ll get to create your very own mini sculptural vase. \nVases will be fired with white or clear glaze\, and participants will be notified via email once their pieces are ready. Wait period is usually 8 weeks. \nCost is $55 and includes materials. \nWhat is handbuilding? \nHandbuilding is a ceramics technique that allows you to create forms with clay and your hands\, without using a throwing wheel. Before ceramicists invented the wheel\, handbuilding was the only way they could create functional and artistic ceramic forms. There are 3 main handbuilding pottery techniques of pinching\, coiling\, and slab rolling. All you need to get started are your clay\, your hands\, and a few simple tools. \nWhile handbuilding is as simple as using your hands to form an object out of clay\, it encompasses three main techniques and forming methods. Once you have mastered pinching\, coiling\, and slab building\, you can make just about anything out of clay. \nPre registration is required.

We will learn to evaluate lenses to determine which are appropriate for each project\, from choosing lenses for their aesthetic look to rejecting lenses for their practical deficiencies. And we will look at a selection of lenses on camera on the big screen to see firsthand the differences between them.\n.\n.\n.\nABOUT CORBY:\nCorby Martin is the owner and optical specialist at Salmo Cine. He has a passion for cinema lenses and loves to bring an artists vision to the screen through optics.\nCorby started his career as a filmmaker shooting snowboard videos\, he quickly moved on to lensing broadcast TV shows and music videos. He has been the director of photography on dozens of commercials\, and several short films and documentaries. Corby’s career transitioned to working on the lenses rather than with them as a lens technician.\nOver the years he has had the honor of speaking on panel discussions and as a brand presenter at industry trade shows N.A.B. and CineGear. He has personally serviced lenses for TV shows such as Riverdale\, Bates Motel and Super Girl and feature films Warcraft and Deathnote. The accomplishment Corby is most proud of is designing and building the Ethereal and Effigy lens systems for Sim International\, which have been used on the CW series Nancy Drew and the NatGeo series Valley of the Boom respectively.\nWhen not dreaming up new lens designs Corby is an avid snowboarder and spends many hours running And hiking in the mountains.\nhttps://salmocine.ca\nLenses sponsored by Lorne Lapham\nhttps://www.llsr.com
