SUMMARY:Nelson - Moosehide Day Potluck: Drum\, Sing\, Storytelling & Poetry
DESCRIPTION:Moosehide Day invitation to Potluck Rejoicing in Feast\, Drum Circle\, Singing\, Storytelling\, & Poetry \nOpen to the whole community whether you have attended other events of the day or not. We need you too to witness and support those who are fast breaking\, sharing in new relationships\, capturing insights for the coming year; while sharing our favourite foods and non alcohol drink is the way forward. A day of Soul Foods balanced with Body Nutrition. \nThe space will be open and held you and all for every voice\, every song\, every poem in the sanctity of Ancient Practice from all Paths. Bring your favourite instruments. We will jamb. We will open for personal pieces. With care\, we have a piano too \nBreaking the Fast \nAs with any fast\, it is important to break your fast with intention. We recommend eating and drinking clean\, simple foods easing yourself back into your regular diet. \nIt is also a good time to make a formal transition from your experience back into your day-to-day life. At our gatherings\, we conduct fast-breaking ceremonies where we show our gratitude\, share food\, ask witnesses to share their words\, and celebrate the effort and sacrifice as we reflect upon the day and the road ahead.

SUMMARY:Nelson Community Drum Circle
DESCRIPTION:Set free your inner rhythm\, connect with your community\, and let the beat move you! \nWelcome to the Nelson Community Drum Circle as part of Rhythm by Nature’s Community Drumming Tour! \nSupported by the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance\, Rhythm by Nature brings you a fully interactive and immersive drumming experience for one night only at the North Shore Hall\, Nelson. \nNo drumming experience is needed and all the instruments are provided. \nProfessionally facilitated\, participants will learn about and experiment with different drums and drumming techniques from all around the world. You’ll experience a fun and inclusive drumming workshop\, but that’s only the beginning! \nHere are a number of reasons why this event is for you: \n\nGroup drumming releases stress and negative emotions\nYou’re pulled into the present moment\nIt induces deep relaxation\nIt provides a sense of empowerment\nIt can reduce chronic pain & boost the immune system\nYour body and mind align with the natural world\nYou’re offered a non-verbal communicative tool\nIt allows for personal transformation\nOh\, and it’s a whole lot of fun!\n\n\nDiscounts are offered when you buy three or more tickets!\nInstruments are provided but feel free to bring your own.\n\n  \nA little about Rhythm By Nature and your facilitator\, Patrick Carrick: \nPatrick is a certified ‘Circles of Rhythm’ master facilitator\, professional percussionist\, and music educator. Patrick has a passion for bringing people together through the power of rhythm and has worked within a wide variety of musical genres and ensembles. \nPatrick founded Rhythm by Nature in 2016 and it has since become a popular mainstay in BC’s Columbia Valley region\, offering a variety of programs and events that promote community connection\, wellness\, social development\, and creativity. \nPatrick’s affection for music and drumming has taken him all around the world\, finally growing roots in the Kootenays. After completing three levels of facilitation training with the nationally acclaimed ‘Circles Of Rhythm’ & internationally recognized Rhythm2Recovery\, Patrick has been hosting community drumming events in the communities of Invermere\, Radium Hot Springs\, Panorama Mountain Resort\, Fairmont Hot Springs\, Edgewater\, Canal Flats\, Kimberley\, Golden and beyond. Rhythm by Nature has earned a reputation for its positive community impact and inclusive approach to group drumming. \nThanks to the support of the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance\, Rhythm By Nature is touring the entire Columbia Basin throughout the Fall with the intention of demonstrating the many benefits that come from the Integrative Community Drum Circle. \nAn Important Distinction: \nRhythm By Nature follows the ‘Integrative Community Drum Circle (ICDC)’ methodology. This means that our drumming is not based on any ethnospecific traditions\, cultures\, or rhythms. The ICDC employs a multicultural approach so that the experience is accessible to everyone. It’s about celebrating our diversity\, creativity\, and playfulness. Our drums are from all around the world but do not hold any limiting cultural or ceremonial significance. Our instruments are of premium quality and are made from 100% recycled wood fiber. \nFamilies are most welcome. We find that very young children have trouble holding attention for the whole session and we kindly ask that children of all ages are responsibly supervised\, for the enjoyment of all : ) \nWe would like to thank the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance for supporting this event.

We find that very young children have trouble holding attention for the whole session and we kindly ask that children of all ages are responsibly supervised\, for the enjoyment of all : )
