Some of the artists will be in attendance to present their work and will talk about filmmaking as an art medium! \nThe films selected celebrate play and community\, proudly incorporate a love of living things\, highlight deep personal expression\, and promote positive change through actions. The programming is aimed at a general audience with a run-time of an average feature film. \nArtists in attendance: \nSiloën Daley is a Kootenay kid who founded Carbon Arc Cinema\, a community art house in Halifax as well as the Animation Festival of Halifax. DESCRIPTION:Founded by Ed Durocher\, Apollo Suns is a 7-piece instrumental collective from Winnipeg\, Manitoba. The band fuses the influence of jazz\, rock and psychedelic music\, to create their own unique sounds with the dancefloor in mind. They have self-released three EPs: ‘Each Day a Different Sun’ (2017)\, ‘Dawn Offerings’ (2019)\, ‘A Relationship of Force’ (Color Red\, 2021)\, and were awarded “Instrumental Artist of the Year” at Western Canadian Music Awards in both 2018/2020.\n\nDrawing from a diverse blend of influences\, Earth Freaks present their own unique brand of nostalgia induced psych-rock in an explosive high energy format. Through carefully crafted songwriting and an infectious stage presence\, they take the listener out of our current reality for a short trip back to a place in time where music was raw and untethered.

DESCRIPTION:Western Balladeer John Gogo and singer-songwriter Allen Dobb perform in a double bill at Taghum Hall. \nWestern balladeer John Gogo hails from a musical family in Snuneymuxw (aka Nanaimo). He’s best known for writing and performing folksongs about the people and places\, and the true and the tall tales of the West Coast—the islands in particular. From Haida Gwaii to St. John’s\, John has played community halls and big houses\, festivals pubs\, and theatres. Allen Dobb is on tour after recording his new album\, Alone Together\, a collection of ten new original songs drawn from characters\, stories\, and landscapes that are part of his experience working as a range management specialist in the interior of B.C. The vein of the Fraser River and BC’s interior landscapes run through many of his new songs.
