Their wide repertoire of traditional country\, bluegrass\, and old-time has been captivating audiences around the Maritimes and beyond. Their 2023 debut self-titled album was released on Dartmouth’s Big Turnip Records.

DESCRIPTION:Born in India\, raised in Canada\, and currently based in New York City\, the sublimely talented vocalist and composer Kirin Ahluwalia is the poster child for musical multiculturalism. With two JUNOs to her credit\, Kiran has always been celebrated as a master of the profound vocal traditions of India and Pakistan (DownBeat praises the “emotional richness” of her singing). Yet these are traditions that she simultaneously honours but also updates in remarkable ways. \nHer original compositions\, while intensely Indian\, have also been influenced by Kiran’s deep delving into the realms of jazz\, western blues\, soul\, and rock\, and especially the haunting trance blues of Mali. Over her storied career she has also had memorable collaborations with everyone from fado legends to superstar Celtic fiddler Natalie MacMaster. Appearing with a quintet featuring renowned jazz artist Rez Abbasi on guitar and similarly skilled performers on drums\, tabla\, and accordion/organ\, the boundary-blurring Kiran will take the audience on a unique and enchanting musical journey.

Formed in 2022 by a group of bored professionals that spent years making music and found a way to combine into something better than the sum of its parts. Their unique brand of punk rock hits on skate punk\, hardcore\, rock\, and any other genre they can blend in to keep themselves entertained. \nJayne Karma Lamo is a neurodivergent multi-instrumentalist\, performer\, recording artist and producer from Salmo\, BC. Jayne creates dreamy\, post-grunge alt-rock\, drawing from multiple self produced albums worth of original material. Her signature sound has been influenced by the likes of PJ Harvey\, Radiohead\, the Dandy Warhols\, among many others.

DESCRIPTION:Clanna Morna are a traditional Celtic folk band from Victoria\, BC\, coming to the Vallican Whole this July for a beautiful and intimate live concert.\nThe band is comprised of Cody Baresich (guitar\, mandolins\, Irish bouzouki\, tenor banjo\, percussion\, vocals)\, Finn Letourneau (fiddle\, banjo\, harmonium\, vocals)\, and Mark Leigh (accordion\, tin whistles\, harmonium\, vocals). With the combination of traditional instruments featuring strong melodic leads\, rhythmic guitar accompaniment and foot percussion\, the band covers a wide swath of musical ground. From high-energy instrumentals to slow ballads\, drinking songs to sea shanties\, Clanna Morna brings a unique west coast influence to Celtic & English folk. The band pays tribute to and takes inspiration from legendary predecessors including The Dubliners\, The Pogues\, The Bothy Band\, Planxty\, and The Clancy Brothers. Jump ahead 13 years and Willie has a hit album out\, and a reputation as a guitar star akin to Stevie Ray Vaughan or George Thorogood. No mere imitator\, Willie is a thoughtful First Nations artist with a unique emotional truth – one that he unleashes in slow-burn ballads and powerful blasts of blues-rock fury.
