Now’s your chance! Come join us for our Open Decks session at the event on Saturday. \nHOW IT WORKS: \nWe will have 3 x 20 minute time slots (8:00 – 8:20\, 8:20 – 8:40\, 8:40 – 9:00) designated as “Open Decks” for Nelson’s Underground Dance Community DJ’s. DJ’s are selected by a RANDOM DRAW. DJ’s who wish to participate need to arrive at Eagle’s Hall for 7:50pm. We’ll invite all DJ’s present at 7:55 to come up and throw their name in the hat for a random draw. Whoever’s name is picked first gets their first choice of the 3 available time slots listed above\, 2nd gets 2nd choice and 3rd name picked gets what is left. Any DJ’s who have been previously for Open Decks and DIDN’T get picked\, will get an additional ballot so we can give everyone a chance to play (ie\, 2nd visit without playing gives 2 ballots\, 3rd visit without playing gets 3 ballots\, etc. Reset back to 1 ballot after they’ve played). \nWhether your name gets drawn or it doesn’t\, we still encourage you to come out to the next Open Decks and throw your name in the hat again. We love to see that enthusiasm and look forward to seeing you often and getting to know you better. \nREQUIREMENTS: \nWe must still respect the musical style of the event\, and the flow of the evening\, so this is NOT OPEN FORMAT. \nThis opportunity is for *underground house music* DJ’s – sorry\, no hardcore\, EDM or commercial dance\, trance\, dubstep\, jungle etc. Any genre that falls under the “house & techno music umbrella” is acceptable: deep house\, funky\, Chicago\, jackin’ house\, progressive house\, tech house\, melodic techno etc. \nNO OUTSIDE EQUIPMENT please. The band’s musicianship\, songwriting and work ethic have led to endorsements from such companies as Sabian\, Rotosound UK and Vater and the group has performed over 120 concerts since the release of their debut album “Brass” in late 2022. Jesse will perform on the full-size Kawai Grand Piano. \nPleissis studied piano and composition at the University of Lethbridge\, Brandon University\, took classes with Norma Fischer in England and Edith Fischer in Switzerland\, and holds a doctorate in piano performance from the Université de Montréal. As a pianist Jesse maintains a full performing schedule\, and has performed across Canada and Europe.
