DESCRIPTION:Join us for a heartwarming\, family-friendly event that delves into the rich traditions and history of Dia de los Muertos\, the Day of the Dead! \nWe welcome and appreciate any donations to support our celebration. \nEvent Highlights: \n– Altar Creation:\nJoin us to witness this beautiful tradition and add your own tributes if you wish. \n– Paper Flowers Workshop:\nContribute to our communal altar by placing a paper flower in memory of your cherished ones. Purchase paper flower kits for $2 at Cowan’s or create a simple paper flower at the event. \n-Presentation on Día De Muertos:\nCome learn about Día De Muertos – a celebration which honours the lives of our dear departed souls. \n-Poetry Workshop:\nLearn the beautiful art of crafting “calaveritas” – short poems dedicated to loved ones who have journeyed beyond. \n– Live Music and Dance:\nImmerse yourself in the vibrant rhythms and movements that celebrate life and honor those who have passed. \n– Storytelling:\nShare your personal Dia de los Muertos traditions and stories in a special storytelling space. Let’s carry on these cherished traditions together! \nPurpose:\nThis event is a bridge to connect with the multicultural aspects of Dia de los Muertos and offers a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the lives of those departed souls we hold dear. It’s a day to honor and remember\, to create\, to share\, and to connect. \nDate: Saturday\, November 4th 2023 \nTime: Drop-in anytime between 4:30-6:30 PM. DESCRIPTION:Intergenerational circus with lots to say: the personal is political\, fury is fun and the acrobatics downright dangerous – especially when life gets in the way. Casting off stereotypes\, these dynamic Australian women tumble\, talk\, fly\, and balance precariously. A disarming\, hilarious show about living on the edge and talking about it; and how it’s easier done than said. Circus that makes you laugh and cry simultaneously! Relaxed\, personal and fantastically inappropriate. \nWith Opening Act: Acromada \nAcromada is a multi-modality circus performance troupe based in the Kootenays that blends dance\, partner acrobatics and aerial arts to create stories of the human experience. Our members have diverse skill sets that allow us to blend a unique variety of movement into our creations. \n
