DESCRIPTION:The Faceless Dolls campaign\, created by the Native Women’s Association of Canada\, was launched in March 2012 to raise awareness of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls\, and of the impact this tragedy has on communities across Canada. The project builds on the work of Gloria Larocque’s ‘Aboriginal Angel Doll Project.’\n\nJoin Nelson Museum Social Justice Coordinator Lesley Garlow for free\, facilitated workshops to create your own faceless doll. You can attend one\, a few\, or all of the workshops\, and completed dolls will be on display in the Community Cabinets on the main floor of the Museum. This is a FREE program\, no registration is required\, and all materials will be supplied.

DESCRIPTION:Hello beautiful people!!!\nI would like to invite you all to a fantastic event. This year we are running the first Nelson Pride edition in ‘The Royal Art Throwdown’ format.\nAs a stand alone event and in celebration of Pride week\, we are bringing together a selection of incredible artists from the lgbtq2s+ community for your viewing pleasure.\nArt is such a beautiful voice for culture and expression that we are super excited to see what our artists come up with on the night.\nThe format will be similar to those we have run before with 3-4 artists on stage in two ‘heats’ for one hour\, creating in their chosen format right in front of you.\nAs usual we will be selling raffle tickets to win the art pieces from the night with a portion of proceeds going to the Christopher Moore Community Fund in support of trans and gender diverse community members.\nThere will be no charge at the door but donations will also be graciously accepted. \nDid I mention that I shall also be providing some fun beats for you to vibe on while watching the artists do their thing? \nIn the theme of personal expression I would like to invite everyone to dress up on the night.
