On the menu: open mic\, local talent\, art show\, drag queen\, collective creation and short movie screening. This event will conclude the series of events on language (in)security and is meant to be a celebration of our diverse contemporary francophone identities. It’s free and everyone is welcome.

First was piano lessons till he was 12 and then to drums/percussion in his teenage years and then picked up the guitar and bass in his early 20s. Now calling Nelson his home\, Rob enjoys performing his original tunes and unique versions of cover songs on piano and guitar. DESCRIPTION:Kootenay Moving Pictures Presents.. A Night of Animation \nCapitol Theatre • 421 Victoria St. Nelson\, BC \nFriday June 30\, 2023 \n6:30pm – Doors open \n7:00pm – All-Ages screening starts \n8:00pm – Intermission \n8:30pm – Mature Audience screening starts \n(9:30pm event ends) \nEnjoy one or two curated programs of animated short films with the community! \nVegan Delights\, the 7pm program of new Canadian films from BC and Alberta is suitable for all ages. \nAt 8:30pm\, after a 30 minute intermission where refreshments are available the Best of GIRAF18 program of award winning short animation from around the world begins. GIRAF is Calgary’s annual festival of innovative animated films. \nOne of the film’s screening in the all-ages program is TINY\, a contemplative film which tells the story of ‘Nakwaxda’xw Elder Colleen Hemphill’s childhood. TINY was presented with the inaugural Elevate Award at Vancouvers DOXA Festival. The jurors applauded the film’s innovative use of stop motion animation and the filmmaker’s caring celebration of elder Colleen Hemphill and the lands and waters of Alert Bay. The jury is excited to amplify the diverse stories and storytellers that brought this film to life. \nKootenay Moving Pictures aims to annually present outstanding films being made regionally as well as inspiring films from afar.  \nThanks to the Animation Festival of Halifax\, Calgary’s Quickdraw Animation Society\, the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance\, and the BC Arts Council for their support.
