SUMMARY:Free Cinematography and Hand-Processing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Kootenay Moving Pictures in partnership with the Capitol Theatre in Nelson and Vancouver’s Echo Park Center North are pleased to offer a celluloid weekend including a free cinematography and hand-processing workshop in Nelson on Friday\, June 7th! \nFriday June 7\, 1-5pm \nCinematography and hand processing workshop\, free \nMeet at the Capitol Theatre at 1pm where participants will begin by exploring camera mechanics and cinematography tips and tricks. We’ll use this new knowledge to film around town. After an hour or so of filming we’ll return to the Capitol Theatre to hand process the film using both eco and traditional film chemistry. Drop-in or rsvp: epfccollective@gmail.com \nThe following evening the films we made will be presented as part of a screening of short films at the Capitol Theatre. \nSaturday June 8\, 7pm\, Capitol Theatre\, 421 Victoria St \nScreening\, music & bingo\, $10/15 \n\nIndependent Animation – Capitol Season \n\nThe following day both workshop participants and the community are invited back to the Capitol Theatre to enjoy a curated screening of short independent animated films from across Canada and beyond and we’ll get to see the films we made the day before. Plus our visiting artists will present one of their community film projects and play some music for us! \n  \nThe artists involved are: \nSiloën Daley is a Kootenay kid who founded Carbon Arc Cinema\, a community art house in Halifax as well as the Animation Festival of Halifax. She loves community building through the arts. \nPaolo Davanzo is a filmmaker\, educator and one of the co-founders of the Echo Park Film Center in 2001. He believes in the power of cinema and storytelling to bring love and hope to the world. \nLisa Marr (formerly of the band CUB) loves making movies and music with communities all over the world. She’s been part of the Echo Park Film Center Family since 2001. \nMatthew James-Wilson is a writer\, photographer and musician who founded Heavy Manners Library\, is the editor of Forge. art magazine\, and has family in the area.

DESCRIPTION:Kootenay Moving Pictures in partnership with Vancouver’s Echo Park Center North are pleased to offer a free community event at the former Japanese United Church in New Denver!! \n  \nSunday June 9 \nFree screening with music & bingo\, bring your own snacks \nformer Japanese United Church\, 212 7th Ave \nDoors 7pm\, Music 7:30\, Screening 8pm \nMusic by Lisa Marr and Friends (formerly of the band CUB) \nScreening films on 16mm by Nelson’s Siloën Daley\, Vancouver’s Lisa Marr and Paolo Davanzo among others. Some of the artists will be in attendance to present their work and will talk about filmmaking as an art medium! \nThe films selected celebrate play and community\, proudly incorporate a love of living things\, highlight deep personal expression\, and promote positive change through actions.
