DESCRIPTION:SATURDAY DECEMBER 7TH AT NELSON BOXING GYM !!(*date & location changed\, sorry for the confusion.)\n\nFeature poetry performance by: BRE HARWOOD!\n\nNELSON POETRY SLAM is returning to a new venue\, and the event will be hosted by our dear friend\, poet and community organizer CHERYL COOK\, and music will be provided by DJ WHO.\n\nFEATURE POET:Bre Harwood is a queer writer\, poet\, activist\, and general troublemaker. Working as a freelance writer\, they have been published in the Blackbear Review\, and ARTiculate magazine. Their first Chapbook\, Unmentionables\, is available at Noteably\, along with some experimental zines. More recently\, they’ve been investing in poetry performances\, such as at Castlegar’s first Pride event\, Elephant Mountain Literary Festival\, and the Poems for Palestine fundraiser.\n\nSCHEDULE:Doors open / Sign up starts at: 6:30pmEvent starts at: 7pmEvent Ends: 9ish\n\nCOST:Pay What You Can (Suggested donation $5-10) / No one turned away for lack of funds.\n\nSLAM / OPEN MIC:To slam you’ll need 2 poems up to 3minutes in length.\n\nOPEN-MIC:limited slots\, because we have a feature poet (so one piece per person / limited spots).\n\nVENUE / LOCATION DETAILS:Nelson Boxing Club is at 685-B Baker street\, which is beside / to the right of PharmaSave (down stairs).\n\nFOR MOBILITY ISSUES:There are stairs and no ramps\, but please be in touch and we will see how to help accommodate your needs.\n\nFREE SPEECH / INTENTIONAL GATHERING :This is a free speech platform centred around inclusivity\, community\, respect for human rights and dignity. We don’t allow hate speech in any form\, so violators will be asked to leave and will be banned. We embrace an anti-oppression / anti-racist and decolonization framework from Sinixt territory to Palestine\, Lebanon\, the Congo and beyond.\nALL AGES event\, BUT we do warn that subject matter and language may vary (eg: swearing may occur).
