SUMMARY:KHC Summer Kicks- Qairo
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday Night from 7-9\, Free outdoor concert at Keith King Park: Golden BC. \nQairo (pronounced Cairo) is a passionate and innovative septet whose pan-Mediterranean sound combines the fire of flamenco with a heady blend of Turkish micro-tonality\, highly charged Balkan rhythms\, and spicy Middle Eastern melodies. Singer Alejandro Mendia and dancers Lia Grainger and Deborah “La Caramelita” were part of a popular flamenco ensemble for years before merging with flamenco guitarist Manuel Vazquez and clarinetist and saxophonist Dorian Zavatta. Their goal was to create a radical musical hybrid\, and with the addition of percussionist Alex Carrasco and drummer Gaetan Diaz\, Cairo hit paydirt. Onstage they unleash a firestorm of music and dance that is rooted in centuries-old folk traditions yet taps into a modern\, freewheeling eclecticism that crackles with chemistry. Find out why CBC Radio said\, “Qairo’s music has no boundaries.”

SUMMARY:KHC Summer Kicks- Munro & Patrick
DESCRIPTION:Free outdoor concert. Wednesday 7-9pm. Munro & Patrick \nAnyone interested in hearing passionate prairie music should definitely check out Munro & Patrick. These two veteran Saskatchewan stars got together six years ago and have been wowing the crowds ever since. With a righteous blend of country\, blues\, and soul\, Heidi Munro and Scott Patrick offer an enticing\, high-energy show combining classic cover songs with gritty\, well-crafted originals. Between the two of them\, these gifted performers have won about a dozen SCMAs (Saskatchewan Country Music Awards)\, with Heidi being further honoured with a National Much Music Vocal prize. The equally accomplished Scott\, a singer/songwriter and\, particularly\, guitarist\, was a key member of renowned country-rock band Wyatt\, and has played all across the country – including with such luminaries as Rascal Flatts and Kenny Rogers. This prairie “power couple” is the real deal.
