SUMMARY:Creston Concert Society presents Piano Heist!
DESCRIPTION:Lifelong friends\, and colleagues\, Nico Rhodes\, Patrick Courtin\, shocked and appalled by the realization that piano just isn’t cool anymore\, set off on a divine quest to redeem the keyboard and reinstate its reputation as the greatest instrument of ALL TIME! What ensues is a mishmash of theatrical wonder\, comedy\, audience participation\, heartfelt stories\, a pinch of history\, and a world of musical madness. Advance tickets currently available at crestonauditorium.tickit.ca for $30 adult\, $15 youth\, and Fly in the Fibre and Kingfisher Books two weeks prior to performance. $35 adult and $15 youth at the door.

Naomi will discuss her approach to her practice\, ‘Medicine Harvest’\, and the Indigenous Fashion Arts Biennial – the prestigious fashion event held in Toronto this spring. The ponchos are being created as part of an artist residency at Selkirk College; Bourque is a graduate of the Kootenay School of the Arts Jewelry and Small Object Design program (2013)\, the Sculptural Metal program (2015)\, and the Textiles program (2023).\n\nThe artist talk is free and open to the public\, no registration is required. SUMMARY:The Cherry Orchard – Freezing Point Play Reading Series
DESCRIPTION:Black Productions Presents Freezing Point: A Play Reading Series\n\nThe Cherry Orchard\nBy Anton Chekov\nDirected by Lindsay Clague\nCast TBA soon\n\nFriday\, February 23rd\, 2024\n7:30pm\nNelson United Church\n10$ donation at the door\n\n\n\nWhat exactly is a play reading?\n\n\n\nA play reading is the most basic version of a play. Actors deliver their lines directly from the script with minimal direction and movement\, but in character and with gusto. There are no technical elements such as props\, costumes or lighting\, but someone reads the stage directions aloud to give the audience the context for each scene.\n\n\n(from What’s a Play Reading and Why is it Cool? SUMMARY:Weekly Tango Mini Lesson & Practice
DESCRIPTION:Want to learn and practice dancing Argentine Tango?\n\n\nWe host a weekly mini-lesson and practica at Christie Lee’s Hall in Fairview.\n\n\nThe guided portion from 7:30-8:15 has a different host and topic each week (check our Facebook page for host and topic announcements). We have an open practice after the lesson until 9:30pm.\n\n\n\nDancers of all levels are welcome! Also\, look for the sandwich board near the sidewalk.\n\n\nGoogle map link: https://goo.gl/maps/zFraPXNpJ6aBBJtv6\nMaps will tell you that it’s “temporarily closed” but don’t believe it!
