SUMMARY:Color Me Happy: Youth Painting Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Color Me Happy is a guided painting workshop series for youth with local artist Trina Wolfenden. Trina specializes in acrylic painting and she has a special talent for adding in splashes of color and happy into everything she does. She will guide youth through the painting process and encourage them to express their own feelings of “happy” and “joy”. All materials are provided to paint 8″x10″ acrylic paintings. Each week will be a new theme and a new painting\, Trina will base these off of feedback from our young painters.

Developing singing and performance as a profoundly spiritual and creative form of expression.\n\nBecause of this\, she has forged varying paths in the music industry as a versatile and dynamic vocalist\, songwriter\, nascent producer\, and diverse collaborator. Conceived and directed by beloved choral leader Allison Girvan and produced by the Capitol Theatre\, Fireworks celebrates the transformative power of collective singing. “Group singing has long been one of the fastest ways to cement community\,” says Girvan. “It’s incredibly moving to be able to share this experience again.” \nThe name Fireworks captures the essence of the event: brilliant\, intense\, and fleeting. While participants prepare individually in the weeks leading up to the performance\, the full group – this year over 325 singers strong – will meet together for the very first time on the day of the show. DESCRIPTION:During the height of the Cold War\, in the 1950s and 1960s\, nearly 50 bunkers were constructed across Canada. In 2017\, the Nelson Museum began work on restoring the space and opening it to the public. You can join a tour of one of the Museumʼs best-loved spaces!\n\nFrom iodine pills and Geiger counters to board games and ashtrays\, visitors get a glimpse of the vast measures taken to create normalcy in an extraordinary time.\n\nWednesday Bunker tours run seasonally from June to September. Saturday Bunker tours are offered year-round. Click on the link to register. Adult admission required – children under 19 are always free!
