SUMMARY:RemarkABILITY Fest with Rock Squad and Rhythm By Nature at Music in the Park
DESCRIPTION:The Trail & District Arts Council is excited to present a range of great musicians at Kootenay Savings Music in The Park. With two acts per night\, it’s the perfect opportunity for all the family to get together outside and listen to great live music in beautiful Gyro Park from June 26 to August 14. \nOn July 24\, our new event RemarkABILITY Fest\, in partnership with Diverse Family Roots\, will provide unique experiences to engage the public and celebrate inclusion and diverse community. \nRemarkABILITY Fest is the first of its kind in Trail and our headliners\, Rock Squad\, include members who are Autistic who are excited to bring their music on the road for the first time ever! \nRock Squad is a 4-piece band covering classic rockers from the past that will rock your socks off! The band was formed after two members Luc Picard (drums) and Marshall (Guitar) met at Autism BC during one of their Awareness Events. \n  \nLuc is also the inspiration for Rock4autism. He was diagnosed with autism before his 3rd birthday\, and has been drumming since he could sit up! He won the K-5 talent show in grade 3 with his keys and vocals rendition of Song Sung Blue by Neil Diamond. In 2016 he began performing at Open Mic jams in the Vancouver area\, and now he plays bass\, drums\, keys along with guitar. \n  \nRock4autism had its first Fundraiser at the Paddlewheeler Pub in 2017\, because the staff at the pub loved Luc so much. They donated over $2\,000.00 to Autism BC at that time\, and in 2018 Rock4autism 2 took place at the outdoor stage at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody and that is where Rock Squad was born. \n  \nThe rest of Rock Squad tonight are Andrew MacFarlane on lead guitar and Dean on bass. Andrew is a very talented professional musician\, and has been a supporter of Rock4autism ever since it all started at his Open Mic jam. Get ready to rock with Andy on board! \n  \nPlaying classic rockers from the past…from Lay Down Sally\, to Rock and Roll All Night\, to Born to be Wild\, you’ll want to chill near the dance floor….Luc and Marshall also love to engage with the crowd…we all know it’s more fun for the band AND the crowd when there’s crowd participation!! \n  \nTo add to the evening’s experience\, Rhythm by Nature will be running 20-minute drumming workshops at 5:15 pm\, 6:00 pm\, and 6:45. \nSet free your inner rhythm\, connect with your community\, and let the beat move you in a fully interactive and immersive drumming experience! Participants will learn about and experiment with different drums and drumming techniques. No drumming experience needed and all the instruments are provided. Fun for all ages. \nFacilitator Patrick Carrick is a professional percussionist\, and music educator. Patrick’s drumming has taken him all around the world and his workshops employ a multicultural approach\, not based on any ethnospecific traditions\, cultures\, or rhythms\, so that the experience is accessible to everyone. \nAlso on location will be hands-on activities\, info booths\, vendors and food. Please note that anyone applying to participate in activities\, info booths or vendors MUST be an organization that supports people with disabilities OR be led by a person with a disability. \nFREE shuttle buses run from 5:30 -9:00 from Trail Safeway and Trail Arena at this event. \nAlso tonight you won’t want to miss a sneak peek at the talented kids in this year’s Triple Threat Theatre double-feature performance “Aristocats” and “Seussical the Musical”. \nSo\, bring a lawn chair and your dancing shoes for a Summer of live music in the park! \nAdmission is by donation – $3 per person  minimum suggested. SUMMARY:JULY 27\, 2025: MEADOW CREEK\, BC – Farm Tour and Potluck at Earth Temple Gardens
DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to a Farm Tour and Potluck at Earth Temple Gardens in Meadow Creek\, BC! Come out to connect with other farmers and food lovers\, share a potluck meal and learn how to operate a farm in a remote location. \nEarth Temple Gardens is an organic farm situated in the rural community of Meadow Creek\, nestled between the Selkirk and Purcell mountain ranges at the north end of Kootenay Lake. Owner and operator Michael Silver first established the farm over 10 years ago\, on leased land. When the land was sold in 2023\, Michael worked with the B.C. Land Matching Program to develop a land agreement with the new landholders. Since then\, Earth Temple Gardens has continued to supply the community with organic vegetables and medicinal herbs. Michael’s mission is to grow healthy produce in the most sustainable way possible – he believes that nourishing local communities and enriching the biodiversity of the land are far from mutually exclusive. \nDuring the farm tour\, we will learn about Michael’s approach to sustainable agriculture and his experience selling through multiple sales channels\, including: farmers’ markets\, farm stand\, and wholesale. Nyree\, the Columbia Basin Land Matcher\, will also be there to discuss how she can help you find a farmer for your land or farmland where you can build your dream farm business. The afternoon will wrap up with a potluck meal\, with plenty of time to ask questions and socialize. \nCome out to learn about land matching and check out what your local farmers are up to! \nDATE: July 27\, 2025 • 11am – 2pm \nLOCATION: Ktunaxa\, Sinixt\, and Syilx Territory. 13270 BC-31\, Meadow Creek\, BC \nDIRECTIONS/PARKING: The farm is located right off of Highway 31 (Balfour-Kaslo-Galena Bay Highway)\, close to where it intersects with Meadow Creek Rd. SUMMARY:NELSON : Marketing for Hippies 101 Daylong Workshop - Brought to you by Storytelling Nelson.
DESCRIPTION:Marketing can feel good.\nThat’s the premise of this workshop.\nYou don’t need to sell your soul to sell your work.\nToo much marketing (even by savvy\, conscious entrepreneurs) creates either no response or seems “over-hyped” and triggers a “used car salesman” reaction.\nIn short\, it feels awful. \nSince 2001\, I have traveled around North America & Europe working with conscious entrepreneurs just like you. Some successful\, others struggling. And I’ve gathered quite the assortment of success stories and strategies right from the horses’ mouths. This workshop is my best distillation and collection of those practices and stories. \nThis workshop is for those who know they need to market but who hate marketing. You don’t have to choose between ethics and effectiveness. \n“I met him a few years ago at a Grief and Gratitude Retreat. I noticed him immediately. He did not just sit and listen. While he listened he hand spun fleece off a distaff and onto a spindle. There he was\, unassuming master of marketing\, practicing the old craft of spinning wool that later he would knit into a variety of clothing and accessories. Beautiful! Deeply meaningful\, soul magnet!” – Ray Stothers

Here’s the little idea: what if you made the heart of your marketing strategy about how your marketing feels to you and others?\nTESTIMONIALS: What People Are Saying About My Workshops:“Just watched the Marketing for Hippies 101 workshop from the Starter Kit. By FAR the best workshop I’ve ever done . I totally feel the weird pressure off of me and ideas are pouring in.“– Tricia Scott*“Thank you for your starter kit. It is really the first type of marketing that has felt good to me . I am so grateful that you share all of this content for free. As a new start up I wouldn’t be in a position to pay for all the information.”*“I want to thank you for your Starter Kit. I was feeling down\, doubting myself and your videos made me feel better straight away! I have so much debt from so many courses that were NOT a fit for me. ”– MMG*” I’ve learned and understood more about marketing in this workshop\, than I have done in years. “*” I learned more practical and useful marketing strategies in Tad’s one day workshop than I did in my five year university business degree. It’s been three months since I attended Marketing for Hippies 101 and I have been taking his practical advice to a “T”. I nearly sold out my 40 person retreat this past weekend\, have connected with several “hubs”\, and finally have a business model that is profitable. His workshop was like the magic comb I didn’t know was possible to straighten out the mess and just have a simple marketing strategy that actually fucking works.”– Garett Rokosh*“I’m already putting in a good 3 hours a week with free materials. I’ve got some momentum and you/your framework makes sense and I enjoy it and have made more progress than with $10k business coaching investments.”About Tad HargraveTad Hargrave is a hippy who developed a knack for marketing (and then learned to be a hippy again).Since 2001\, he has been weaving together strands of ethical marketing\, Waldorf School education\, a history in the performing arts\, local culture making\, anti-globalization activism\, an interest in his ancestral\, traditional cultures\, community building and supporting local economies into his work helping people create profitable businesses that are ethically grown while restoring the beauty of the marketplace. You can learn more about Tad and his work at marketingforhippies.com
