SUMMARY:SHADOWPLAY: A Night of Dark Music on Wax
DESCRIPTION:SHADOWPLAY \n\nJoin duo CLOAK & DAGGER and their comrade JAKOB on Saturday March 23rd in the basement of Kootenay Coop Radio for a night of dark music on wax. The event takes its name from the iconic track off of Joy Division’s debut album Unknown Pleasures. The band’s intervention in 1979 was a game changer that inspired many genres of unique musical exploration\, such as darkwave\, EBM\, industrial\, new wave\, post-punk\, and gothic rock. The night will feature many vintage and contemporary releases on vinyl from a variety of these mesmerizing and mysterious musical genres. \n\n“To the centre of the city in the night\, waiting for you!”\n-Ian Curtis \n\nWHERE: Basement of @kootenaycoopradio – 308 A Hall St. Sinixt təmxʷúlaʔxʷ (Nelson\, BC)\nWHEN: Saturday\, March 23rd\, 2024\nTIME: 9-late\nPRICE: Tickets at the door $10-20 sliding scale\n\nIG: https://www.instagram.com/p/C38a52hvGmd/\nFB: https://fb.me/e/1KXpHilXG \nBio: \n\nCLOAK & DAGGER: Eclectic Vinyl selectors and collectors Cloak & Dagger have been known to play music spanning many different genres and decades\, often within the same set. Although their roots are founded in the dub realm you can expect everything from jazz\, hip-hop\, ambient-experimental leaning electronic & some classics from the 70’s & 80’s. The duo hosts the radio show ‘Something That’s Not Nothing’ every Wednesday night 10pm-12am pst on Kootenay Co-op radio.\n\n@ol.molasses\nhttps://soundcloud.com/olmolasses\n\n@more.like.space\nhttps://soundcloud.com/more-like-space\n\nJAKOB: The intertwined circle and triangle is an ancient alchemical symbol representing a precise transmutation. The extension of the triangle’s points beyond the parameters of the circle indicates that the reaction will take place free from coercion or control\, where the radius of the transformation is wholly dependent upon the strength of the reaction. Extending this incantation to the transformative potential of music\, it is also clear that carefully curated audio atmospheres have the capacity to provoke captivating responses among audiences. \n\n@jakobsounds\nhttps://soundcloud.com/jakob-sounds\n-No forms of bigotry or harassment will be tolerated.\n-Consent is mandatory.\n-Celebrate responsibly.\n-Please contact us if you have any accessibility requirements and would like to attend\n– Capacity is very limited so be sure to arrive early.
