Check out Polka Dot Dragon Arts Society Lantern Festival – a free community-based event that brings people together to make and experience festival art in mid-winter. This event gives people the opportunity to experience the arts in a non-traditional setting and participate in a non-traditional ways. For example\, by decorating your bicycle and creating a rolling art installation. \nWest Kootenay Cycling Coalition has teamed up with lantern festival organizers to include a kinetic component this year! \nSATURDAY | FEBRUARY 10th\nJoin our frosty yet fun group ride to Lakeside Park on Saturday\, February 10th. Decorate your bike with lights\, lanterns or wear a costume. Meet at the Nelson Visitor Centre\, Railway Station at 4:30 pm. DESCRIPTION:This year the Polka Dot Dragon Lantern Festival will start with a community lantern parade on Baker Street.  Bring a lantern and gather at Hall Street Plaza at 6pm on Friday\, February 9th and join with Moving Mosaic Samba Band\, the dragon puppet\, and other performers for a fun and beautiful procession down Baker Street.   On Saturday\, February 10th the festival continues with an outdoor gallery at Lakeside Park from 5:00-7:00 pm.  Come and enjoy the lantern installations and ambient performances at this beloved community festival.  This year’s theme is Deep Sea Dreamscape!

DESCRIPTION:Want to learn and practice dancing Argentine Tango?\n\n\nWe host a weekly mini-lesson and practica at Christie Lee’s Hall in Fairview.\n\n\nThe guided portion from 7:30-8:15 has a different host and topic each week (check our Facebook page for host and topic announcements). We have an open practice after the lesson until 9:30pm.\n\n\n\nDancers of all levels are welcome! Material is beginner-friendly.\n\n\nTango is an improvised partner dance originating in Argentina and Uruguay; you don’t need a partner to attend tango practices or events and it can be danced by anyone and everyone.\n\n\n\n\nPlease bring your dancing shoes and a water bottle.\n\n\n5$ donation\n\n\n\nWhere to find us: Christies Lees Hall is on Radio Ave.\, in lower Fairview.
