DESCRIPTION:Trail & District Arts Council presents \nKootenay Savings Music in the Dark  \nwith Apollo Suns plus DJ (tbc) \nFriday\, August 8 at 7 pm to 9:30 pm \nGyro Park\, Trail \nThe Trail & District Arts Council is excited to present our new Friday night Music in the Dark Beach Dance Party\, featuring DJs and dance-heavy music headliners\, from dusk ‘til dark from 7-9:30 pm. \nThe party returns on August 8 with the high-energy Apollo Suns returning to Gyro Park beach. The 7-piece instrumental collective from Winnipeg\, Manitoba fuses jazz\, rock and psychedelic music to create their own unique sounds with the dancefloor in mind. Opening DJ TBA. \nApollo Suns have self-released three EPs: ‘Each Day a Different Sun’ (2017)\, ‘Dawn Offerings’ (2019)\, ‘A Relationship of Force’ (Color Red\, 2021)\, and were awarded “Instrumental Artist of the Year” at Western Canadian Music Awards in both 2018/2020. \nIn 2022\, Apollo Suns returned to the studio with Juno award-winning producer Ben Kaplan (Five Alarm Funk\, Mother Mother\, The Rare Americans) to record their latest album\, ‘Departures’. \nBest known for their high-octane live shows\, Apollo Suns have captivated audiences at Winnipeg Jazz Festival\, Kaslo Jazz fest\, Salmon Arm Roots and Blues\, Kispiox Valley Music Festival\, Vermont Jazz Fest\, and Calgary Stampede. With a mix of original songs and well-known Spanish covers\, they invite the audience to participate by adding harmonies and playing shakers.\n\nShows are moved indoors if the weather is not cooperative. \nCheck our Facebook page by 2:00 pm on Thursdays for the exact location.
