DESCRIPTION:A Classic Comedy Set in Modern Times. \nCranbrook Community Theatre is excited to present the second production of their 2022/2023 season\, The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. The Importance of Being Earnest follows a young man named Jack who lives in the countryside and pretends to be Ernest while he is in the city. While Jack pretends to be Ernest\, he falls in love with Gwendolen\, who has stated she will only marry a man by the name of Ernest. After discovering Jack’s ruse\, his friend Algernon from the city heads to the country pretending to be Jack’s unfortunate brother Ernest. Algernon then ends up engaged to Jack’s ward\, Cecily\, who coincidentally is also determined to marry a man by the name of Ernest. Hijinx\, drama\, and christenings ensue!“Wilde’s writings prove some things are timeless… like making fun of the rich!” said Director Nathaniel Leigh. “Directing this show has been one of the biggest undertakings of my life. Getting to do a show I fell in love with back in college has made it all even more amazing! Thank you CCT for bringing me on!” \n(At 7:30 p.m.\, with a 2 p.m. matinée on February 19th only.)

SUMMARY:Sitka String Quartet coming to Rossland!
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Rossland Miners Hall on Friday\, February 24th for the Rossland Council for Arts and Culture presentation of: Sitka String Quartet! We hate to end our Performance Series season but at least we get the pleasure of welcoming this talented group of women to the stage.Sitka String Quartet was formed by friends and colleagues in the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. After years of playing together in the larger ensemble\, and sharing numerous concerts as chamber musicians within the VSO Chamber Players\, it was a natural extension of their like-minded musical curiosity\, open-heartedness\, and a fearless willingness to explore quartet repertoire across many genres that propelled these four musicians to form a professional quartet. They have enjoyed shared and individual performances in Italy\, France\, Germany\, Denmark\, Poland\, Austria\, Japan\, China\, Korea\, Iraq\, Lebanon\, and Australia. Their affection for British Columbia has kept them living within a few kilometres of one another\, and they are proud to perform in their home\, BC\, whenever the opportunity arises. Memorable live performances within the last ten months include an outdoor performance on Grouse Mountain near Vancouver\, and performances at the Firehall Theatre\, and High Beams Dreams in Gibsons\, BC.Help us welcome Cassandra Bequary\, Karen Gerbrecht\, Emilie Grimes\, and Olivia Blander as Sitka String Quartet! One thousand thank-you’s to our generous sponsors this season including Teck Trail Operations Ltd\, ITS Consulting\, the City of Rossland\, the BC Touring Council\, the BC Arts Council and the Province of British Columbia. For more information please contact: performance.rcac@gmail.comSee you at the Miners Hall!Sitka String Quartet (Music- String Quartet)90 minute performance; two 45 minute sets with intermissionFebruary 24\, 2023\, 7:30PMDoors open at 7pmMiners Hall\, 1765 Columbia Ave\, Rossland$25/ticket
