92 ALISON KUBBOS AT VALE COFFEE

ACRYLIC/MIXED-MEDIA PAINTING

Alison Kubbos has a background in both fine and commercial art.

Born in Australia, the forests surrounding Valemount have become her home and muse. Using found and recycled materials whenever possible, Alison’s dreamlike images explore symbolic landscapes and the liminality of human/non-human existences within them.

The grains of the wood that she paints upon are prompts for imagination and expression, and are allowed to show through her media and to tell a story of their own.

Wool is my medium for making animal sculptures, pet portraits, vessels and pictures. I love the textures and colours of this fibre art. Not only do I love making all my wool pieces, I also love sharing this in workshops!

Jean Ann Berkenpas will be displaying her paintings, alongside other Valemount artists, at Vale Coffee. She works in acrylic and watercolour to create vivid and realistic paintings of the landscapes, wildlife and people of the Robson Valley and surrounding mountainous regions. Her style draws from realism and impressionism to shed light on the stories of ecological processes, animal life and our human connection to the land.

Karly Ireland is an illustrator and painter located in Valemount. She has spent most of her life living in the Canadian Rockies and is inspired by mountains, water and wildlife. She currently works in animation, painting backgrounds for the TV series Wild Kratts.
