24 LINDA PARSON

LAMPSHADES; FABRIC; VINTAGE; LIGHTING

Welcome to my courtyard studio in Warfield, where you will discover an array of handsewn lampshades.

My fascination with fabric lampshades, and how beautifully they can enhance our surroundings, began when I saw my first Victorian shade.

My adventure began over 30 years ago when I signed up for a very basic course using a glue gun. I finished my first and immediately began researching the traditional hand-sewn method.

Sourcing vintage fabrics and sometimes dying them to get just the right hue is a part of the process I love.

Lately I have been exploring a variety of styles such as mid-century, modern Japanese and whimsical.

A shade that I am working on will be displayed to show the steps in crafting a lampshade.

This year we are so fortunate to be joined by Jacki Bruce. Jacki’s beautiful creations will adorn the courtyard.

We are both very excited to invite you to an enlightened experience.

25 JACKI BRUCE

PINE NEEDLE WEAVER

As I meticulously weave each piece … a story unfolds. Elements of nature reveal their beauty, grounded in traditional methods, materials and stitches. Having a varied artistic background and inclination has led to an eclectic mix of elements. Modern influences have infused my work to date. Looking forward, I wish to tackle more organic shapes and concepts.

The sustainable aspect of the medium definitely brings me joy. The gathering, prepping, sorting and then weaving have brought moments of introspection and relaxation. My philosophy is rooted in the belief that beauty lies in the details.

As far as my venue goes, I will be a guest of Linda Parson, who is the owner/creator of Delight Lampshades. I am exited for this because I have admired her work for ages. Her courtyard garden is welcoming and reveals the influence of the Italian families that settled in Trail years ago.
