artists from around the region!
Background
-
This exhibition is an annual event to
showcase visual arts in the West
Kootenay-Boundary Region. Artists and
Fine Craft producers (inclusive of:
Nelson, Salmo, Kaslo, New Denver, Nakusp,
Revelstoke, Slocan, Castlegar, Rossland,
Trail, Grand Forks, Creston, East Shore
and the surrounding rural areas) are
invited to enter the 31st Kootenay
Boundary Regional Art Exhibition.

The exhibition is hosted by the
Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre and the
West Kootenay Regional Arts Council.

Entrants will be asked to categorize
themselves as either an Emerging or
Established artist to enable a
meaningful jury process.

This is an open exhibition and all
artwork entered will be exhibited, with
the exception of fragile or very
difficult to install pieces. See below
for further details.
Awards
-
Artworks will be chosen at the
discretion of the jurors to receive cash
awards in each of the classes:
Emerging and Established.

Viewers’ Choice prizes in 2-d and 3-d
will also be awarded.

A scholarship to the “2011
Toni Onley Artist’s Project for Emerging
and Professional Artists” at
Island Mountain Arts, Wells BC will be
awarded. Information:

Criteria
-
Fine and applied art, in all media,
individually or collaboratively
produced, including traditional or
indigenous artwork, is welcome –
painting, drawing, mixed media,
printmaking, sculpture, photography,
digital, fiber, clay, wood, glass,
metal.

Only original creative artworks are
eligible – no copies, mechanical
reproductions, kits, commercial patterns
or molds
-
Artwork previously submitted in a
regional art exhibition may not be
resubmitted.
-
Artwork must have been completed within
the last 2 years (no older than 2008).
-
For work that requires specific
installation, instructions must be
attached.
-
For digital work requiring video
display, please contact the coordinators
before registering.
-
While all media and type of artworks are
eligible for exhibition, the Arts
Council, in conjunction with the
Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre, reserves
the right to limit the exhibition of
certain artworks if to do so would be
detrimental to the artwork itself, or
would impose inordinate handling or
display problems.

All artists must sign the waiver on the
exhibition registration form. If the
waiver is not signed, the artwork will
not be eligible for exhibition.
Entry Fee
$25.00 - limit of one entry per artist
Entry Categories
Artists must choose to enter either as an
Emerging or Established artist, defined as
follows:
Established Artists:
• Have been engaged
in their art for at least three years
• Have exhibited at least three times
• Have received some training, education or professional
development
• Show technical mastery of their medium
• Are practicing artists
• Should be eighteen or over
Emerging Artists:
• Just starting
out, or with several years experience,
but need not have exhibited before
Exhibition and Sales
-
Artwork must be available and remain on
display for the duration of the regional
exhibition.

Artwork must be suitably prepared, ready
for presentation. To endeavor display of
artwork as the artist intends,
instructions may be included.
-
Wall mounted artwork must be
appropriately framed or stretched with
hanging eyelets affixed on both sides,
wired, ready for hanging.
-
If 3D artwork requires a stand or
installation assistance, please include
details with your registration form.
-
Artwork not properly prepared for
exhibition may not be exhibited. The
Arts Council reserves the right to make
the final decision.

All artwork exhibited may be offered for
sale, with the artist’s concurrence.
-
The Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre will
retain a 20 % commission for all
artworks sold.
-
Artwork not for sale (NFS) should be
labeled as such.

How to Register:
1. Print and complete
Registration/Artist’s Statement Form

2. Keep one copy of the Registration/Artist’s
Statement form for your records.
3. Sign the 2nd copy of your Registration/Artist’s
Statement form, enclose with your entry
fee
and mail to the Revelstoke
Visual Arts Society (RVAS).

Artwork Delivery and Collection:
1. Delivery: artwork to the Revelstoke Visual
Arts Centre: 320 Wilson Street, Revelstoke,
located behind The Day's Inn.
2. Labels: Artwork must be securely labeled
with: Name, address, telephone number,
selling price (or NFS
if not for sale), title and medium.
Artwork Delivery deadline: July 29 & 30, 1pm
- 5pm and July 31,10am - 4pm
3. Artwork may also be shipped to RVAS via Greyhound to
arrive by Thursday July 29 -
“hold for pickup” at the
Revelstoke Depot.
4. Collection: all artworks must be picked up at
the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre between
10 am - 4 pm August 28 & 29,
2010. If this is not possible please contact
coordinators in
advance of these dates
regarding alternate arrangements.
